11-Days Peace Education Program concludes at University of Kashmir

The 11-Days Peace Education program organized by The PremRawat Foundation, Los Angeles, USA in collaboration with Shah-i-Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies and Sheikh ul-Aalam Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies concluded today with the valedictory session that was conducted at the EMMRC auditorium, University of Kashmir.

The proceedings started with the recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran by Dr. Shahnawaz Shah, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Persian, KU. This was followed by the formal welcome address presented by Prof. G.N. Khaki, Head, Shah-i-Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies. In his address, Prof. Khaki welcomed and the dignitaries and participants present on the occasion. Prof. Khaki emphasized on the need to promote mutual peace and harmony and the impossibility of world peace without learning to live in a mutually coexistent atmosphere. Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Former Head, Shah-i-Hamadan Institute of Islamic Studies, briefed the audience regarding the report of the program vis-à-vis the various dynamic themes that were discussed during the two weeks of the program. Prof. Manzoor highlighted how such programs are part of the multidisciplinary approach that is highly stressed in the National Education Policy. In her remarks as the special guest of the occasion, Ms. PoonamSherawat, Facilitator, The PremRawat Foundation, stressed on the significance of various aspects of peace, inner strength, and hope. She also applauded the people of Kashmir for their hospitality and love for peace. A book authored by PremRawat entitled “Hear Yourself” and three other books were released on the occasion and gifted to all the participants present in the function.

The Presidential address was delivered by Prof. M. Yusuf Ganai, Dean, School of Social Sciences. Throughout his address, he made regular mention of the role that the Sufis and Reshis of Kashmir played in the development and promotion of composite culture and how they represented a tolerant ideology and compassionate culture.

Certificates and Mementos were also presented to the registered participants. It was attended by more than 100 participants who were present in the auditorium and another 100 more who had joined online over Zoom platform.

The proceedings of the session were conducted by Dr. Muhammad Ilham, Faculty, SACMS, KU. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Nasir Nabi, Asstt. Professor, SHIIS, KU. Technical and logistic support was provided by the scholars and other staff members of the collaborating institutions.
