Extension Lecture at Kashmir University

Markaz-i-Noor, Centre for Shaikh-ul-Aalam Studies (CSAS), University of Kashmir, Srinagar, organized an extension lecture titled, “I am Consciousness” delivered by Dr. M.A. Kawosa (IFS) on 7. 10. 2021. The function was presided over by noted writer and social commentator, Dr. Maroof Shah, who chaired the session.

Professor G. N. Khaki, Chairman CSAS, welcomed the guest speaker with the anticipation that the lecture will immensely benefit the audience especially given its significance in the modern world when materialism has gained ground.    

Dr. Kawosa in his thought provoking lecture illuminated on the theme of consciousness, based on his recent book: “I Am Consciousness”. He called upon the audience to “know thyself” but also and importantly to realize what it means to “know thyself”. 

Dr. Maroof Shah, in his address as the Chair appreciated the contents of the lecture and exhorted the University of Kashmir to set up a Centre of Consciousness Studies or at least ensure that various University departments include the theme in their syllabi and have debates around it. 

The talk was well attended by professors including Prof. Noor Baba, Prof.  Nusrat Bazaz, Dr. Iffat Maqbool, Dr. Mufti Mudasir, Dr. Afaq Aziz, Dr. Abid Gulzar among others. A number of research scholars and students of the University also attended the talk, besides others who joined online.
